Mac Knight has lived and worked in Columbia for the past 25 years. He practiced medicine with Midlands Internal Medicine Associates until 1998 when he left general practice and started the first hospitalist group in the area. Since 2001 he has held a variety of administrative positions with Palmetto Health and now serves as that organization's Senior Vice-President for Ambulatory Services.
Mac serves on the long range planning committee for the Columbia City Center Partnership. He was named as one of 500 inaugural Fellows of Hospital Medicine in 2008 for his pioneering work in this specialty. He also holds fellowships in the American College of Physicians and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Mac received an undergraduate degree from Stanford University, a Doctor of Medicine from Oregon Health Sciences University and a Master of Business Administration from UMass, Amherst. He is married to Rosa Jimenez, MD who practices internal medicine in Columbia and together they have four children.
