Knight Foundation 

The Knight Foundation Donor Advised Fund administered by the Community Foundation provides grants that address the following Knight Foundation priority areas:

  • Education
  • Well-being of children and families
  • Housing and community development
  • Economic development
  • Civic engagement/positive human relations
  • Vitality of cultural life

Proposals for Knight Donor Advised Fund grants are accepted on a continual basis throughout the year.  Grants are due to the Community Foundation office by the fifth of each month.  Decisions are typically made by the end of the month.  Grants must serve residents of Richland County, and the maximum request amount is $20,000.

FY08 Grants

Richland School District Two - Skills for Life and Work Program
Received a $7,800 grant to fund a program manager and childcare provider for the program.

PCASC/Voices for South Carolina's Children - Board Training and Retreat
Received a $14,400 grant to hold board training and a retreat for the development of the first strategic plan to set forth a new vision, mission, goals and priorities.  The new organization consists of three recently merged organizations serving children and families in South Carolina -- Children's Trust Fund, Prevent Child Abuse SC and Voices for SC's Children.
