Central Carolina Community Foundation awards grants primarily to nonprofit organizations that are defined as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  The Community Foundation offers many different types of grants to build and sustain the Midlands community, including our most prevalent Community Impact (CI) and Organizational Impact (OI) grants.

Grants are available to organizations serving the following counties: Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter.

In addition to our discretionary grantmaking, the Foundation oversees several other grant processes including those for Kershaw County Endowment, Orangeburg Calhoun Community Foundation, Sumter Community Foundation, Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation, the Knight Foundation Fund, the Academy of Columbia Foundation and Women in Philanthropy.  Detailed grant application guidelines and forms for each type of competitive grant are located in this section.

Making the Philanthropic Pie Bigger

A recent poll found that 77 percent of children under the age of 17 are either not aware of their parents giving, or know that they give but do not how or to whom. With the generational gap widening, we need to take action to ensure the spirit of philanthropy is shared with our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The Community Foundation recently launched Talk About Giving (TAG) to encourage multi-generational conversation about philanthropy. The program is designed for families who have a desire to pass along to their children and grandchildren a healthy understanding of the need to give to others.  Our community will certainly benefit long-term if we start fostering a generous spirit in the next generation today.  Encourage your constituents to make sure they Talk About Giving with their families.
