Established as a donor-advised fund with Central Carolina Community Foundation in 2001, the Academy of Columbia Foundation has identified a list of potential partners to enhance and improve the educational opportunities that target children and families in Richland School District One. The grants from this fund are awarded to those partner organizations who are invited to participate in the proposal process.
Letters announcing available grants are sent to potential partners in January each year. If you have any questions contact Veronica L. Pinkett-Barber, Program Officer, at 803.254.5601 x331 or veronica@yourfoundation.org.

The 60-hour course will cover teaching techniques that are language-based, multisensory, structured, sequential, cognitive and flexible. In addition, funding is provided to bring Dr. Russell A. Barkley, Ph.D., an expert on ADHD in children and adults, to speak in Columbia. Dr. Barkley is a world renowned author, practitioner and educator who has traveled the world to speak to audiences on ADHD. He will engage teachers, parents, administrators, and doctors in a presentation on attention deficit hyperactive disorder and the effect it has on the child, how it can be treated, and what educators, medical professionals and parents can do to help.
