Best of Philanthropy Awards Nomination

Nomination Guidelines: Nominees must reside in one of the 11 counties the Community Foundation serves: Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter. In 500 words or less, the nomination should highlight the persistent effort of the person(s) to address areas of need in our community via their own involvement and participation. Please give a clear demonstration of the specific impact and outcomes from those efforts. This can include fundraising efforts, but is not limited to monetary donations. Judging will be based on the following criteria:

  • What community need(s) does the nominee’s efforts address?
  • What are the accomplishments generated by the nominee’s efforts?
  •  What makes the nominee unique and stand out among others? 

The categories include:

  • Individual/Family
  • Student/Student Group
  • Local Business
  • Group

Deadline:  The deadline for nominations is July 18, 2014.
Judging:  The nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges that includes staff from Columbia Metropolitan Magazine, staff and board members from Central Carolina Community and other members of our community.
Announcement of Winners:  Once the Community Champions are selected, they will be profiled in Columbia Metropolitan Magazine and honored at Central Carolina Community Foundation’s Annual Celebration on November 13, 2014. Each winner will have a $1,000 donation made in their name to the nonprofit organization of their choice in the Foundation’s 11-county service area in the Midlands.

Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six months, performed services for Central Carolina Community Foundation, Columbia Metropolitan Magazine or any organizations responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the contest or supplying the prize, and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members of such individuals, are not eligible to enter or play. "Immediate family members" shall mean parents, stepparents, children, stepchildren, siblings, stepsiblings, or spouses. "Household members" shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months in one calendar year.
By accepting this award, the winner(s) authorize Central Carolina Community Foundation and Columbia Metropolitan Magazine to use the winners' names, likenesses, photographs, voices and biographical data for any purpose, in any media, unless prohibited by law.
