Community Foundation for Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties Celebrates Local Nonprofits at Reception

The Community Foundation for Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties hosted a celebration in honor of local nonprofits Tuesday, August 23rd. The reception, held at the Orangeburg County Club, recognized local nonprofit organizations whose work makes the community stronger.

During the celebration, Walker Emulsions, a producer of emulsion products located in Orangeburg, SC, announced they are giving $30,000 over the next two years to the Community Foundation for Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties. The Community Foundation plans to use the generous gift as a challenge grant to encourage others to help increase the endowment, which makes annual grants to local nonprofits. Walker Industries’ CEO John Fisher and Executive Vice President Archie Reynolds traveled from the company’s headquarters in Canada to make the presentation.

“We are extremely grateful for the gift from Walker Emulsions,” states Chris Worley, chair of the Community Foundation for Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties Advisory Board. “This generous gift will help strengthen our community and is an example for others to follow.”

Walker Emulsions is owned by Canadian-based Walker Industries. The Orangeburg location is the newest addition to the company and was purchased in February 2014. Their productions include aggregates and construction, emulsions, and environment waste and recycling solutions. Walker Industries is committed to the communities in which they operate, live and thrive, as exemplified with their generous donation.

The Community Foundation for Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties is a publicly supported endowment funded by donors who believe in Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties’ future. The endowment is an affiliate of Central Carolina Community Foundation and has awarded more than $157,000 in grants to Orangeburg and Calhoun nonprofits since 2002.
