Hard Work Pays Off

Recently, Walker contracted through Air Force ROTC to become a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force upon graduation. He hopes to one day live in Germany or Italy while in the Air Force. However, achieving this dream may not have been possible without the help of the William S. and Elizabeth B. Heath Scholarship.
This scholarship was created to provide educational opportunities for past employees, or their dependents, of Carolina Coca-Cola Bottling Company formerly located in Sumter. Walker received this scholarship when he graduated high school from Laurence Manning Academy.
“Without this scholarship, I would not have been able to afford to get this far in my college career. My family and friends are very proud of me and my accomplishments,” said Walker.
Walker has always been a successful student. In high school Walker was a Student Ambassador in the People to People Ambassador Program. He also participated in track and field, football and Beta Club.
As a college student, Walker is working hard to obtain his degree in criminology and criminal justice. Walker spends most of his time doing activities with the Air Force ROTC, but he also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, painting, drawing, playing piano and weightlifting.
Balancing school work and the Air Force ROTC has been hard work, but Walker has never been afraid to persevere.
