How to Ensure Your Year-End Contribution Counts

Grant Recommendations

All grant recommendations should be made by Monday, Dec. 12. Grant recommendations received after Dec. 13 may not be issued until January 2022. Grant recommendations can be made through the Fundholder Portal.

If you are considering year-end gifts to the Community Foundation, please keep the following tips in mind:

Gifts by Checks

Checks written to “Central Carolina Community Foundation,” noting the intended fund in the Memo line, mailed by USPS must be postmarked by Dec. 31. Checks mailed by FedEx, UPS or DHL must be physically received at the CCCF office by Dec. 30.

Gifts by Credit Card

Donations using a credit card must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31. Online donations to the Community Foundation can be made at www.yourfoundation.org/give.

Stock Transfers

Gifts of appreciated stock should be initiated no later than Dec. 27. Please contact me prior to transferring.

Real Estate and Closely Held Stock

These gifts should be initiated as early as possible and must be received by Dec. 31. Contact me for assistance.

QCDs from IRAs

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from an IRA can be made directly to the Community Foundation. QCDs can also be used to create a Designated Fund with the Community Foundation. When creating a Designated Fund, donors must select the nonprofit beneficiaries at the time the fund is established. Please contact Michelle Hardy at [email protected] for assistance.

Midlands Gives

Of course, don’t forget you can give to nearly 500 local organizations on the Midlands Gives year-round platform. Gifts to nonprofits through the Midlands Gives year-round platform should be made by Dec. 31.
