Michael Tucker-Chick-fil-A Lexington

2010 Local Business Champion

Since 1995, the Lexington Chick-fil-A in cooperation with other Midlands Chick-fil-A restaurants has been the signature sponsor of The Women's Shelter Thanksgiving Souper under the leadership of Michael Tucker.  The Thanksgiving Souper has grown into a yearly tradition where for only $2.00 community members can enjoy a simple meal the Thursday before Thanksgiving that not only helps raise funds for the homeless in Columbia, but offers a reminder of how much we have to be thankful for.

Chick-fil-A has always been recognized as an excellent corporate citizen across the nation, but Mr. Tucker's dedication to helping The Women's Shelter provide service for the homeless is above and beyond the usual corporate philanthropic initiative.  Mr. Tucker calls regularly throughout the year to check on special in-kind needs that might be able to help operations at The Women's Shelter.  For over ten years, Mr. Tucker's Bush River restaurant provided one meal per week to the residents of The Women's Shelter.  Mr. Tucker has even had his restaurant supplement the menu at other Shelter events with no recognition or reimbursement simply because he believes in the mission of The Women's Shelter.
