Midlands Gives Spotlight: Jordan Crossroads Ministry Center

Jordan Crossroads Ministry Center – Haven of Rest has been serving women and children in Clarendon County since May 2008. JCMC provides a transitional house and safety for women and children away from their abuser for up to 90 days. In addition to the shelter, JCMC provides educational resources and assists the women they serve with finding employment. Since opening their doors in 2008, JCMC Haven of Rest has served 53 women and 63 children.

JCMC has participated in Midlands Gives for the past 6 years and has used the donations to fund operational expenses, including paying for the property that currently houses the women and children. The organization has raised a total of $33,507 from over 190 gifts from their participation.

Ann Driggers, JCMC founder and president, leads the group in preparing for the event. She works on a team to contact all potential donors, including local businesses, organizations, and churches.

“It’s a perfect event to assist us with exposing our organization and cause, as well as raise funds for our organization,” states Ann. “We have participated every year since inception and will continue to participate!”

This past year Ann made a public service announcement at Manning Now Studio and set up giving stations at a local golf clubhouse and The MonkeyGrinder which facilitated community donations. Each staff member set up a Champion Page and informed their families and friends of the opportunity to give.

During the 2019 event, JCMC surpassed their Midlands Gives goal of $10,000, raising $12,326 to support women and children affected by domestic violence. Santee Baptist Church was a large contributor in helping the JCMC achieve its goals. Reflecting on this achievement, Ann said “God continues to provide what we need, and as faith-based volunteers we pray and believe for that.”
