Women in Philanthropy

Women in Philanthropy provides an opportunity for a number of strong, caring and focused women to come together to learn about financial and philanthropic issues and to address the real needs of women and children in our area.

Women in Philanthropy (WIP) was founded in 2002 by a group of 16 businesswomen and community activists in the Columbia area. WIP is an organization dedicated to revolutionizing the way women give by transforming charitable contributions into philanthropic investments in the community. Their investments in the community create positive, measurable, long-term change in the lives of women and children by focusing on root causes and pooling resources to increase the impact.

A collaboration between United Way of the Midlands and Central Carolina Community Foundation, WIP is part of a larger national movement of women taking the activist role of philanthropy to seek long-term solutions through leadership, community investment, fundraising, advocacy and mentoring.

Grant opportunities for WIP will be posted on the United Way of the Midlands website.
